Our version of murphy's law
First and foremost, DO NOT - we repeat, NOT - use Murphy's Oil Soap or any wax or chemical-based cleaning product on your hardwood floor.
These products leave an invisible film on your floor, and if it's been re-coated recently, can cause the new finish to bubble or even peel. J.T.'s Floor Refinishing would have to re-sand your entire floor! We recommend Bona hardwood floor cleaner.
For the long haul
With a regular regimen of cleaning, your hardwood floor should be almost trouble-free. Every couple of years to every couple decades, J.T.'s Floor Refinishing recommends getting a re-coat, a quick and easy light abrading of your floor's surface, followed by applying a single coat of polyurethane. One day is all we need!
A clean sweep is easier than you think
Believe it or not, garden-variety dirt causes more damage to hardwood floors than just about anything else. A quick sweep with a push broom or even a vacuum cleaner on a regular basis is the best thing you can do.
